i’m doing my best, but there’s just no rest
when my best is not enough
Just now, I had a client who needed me to edit a trailer for one of their projects, but all they had was a video on Vimeo as a source. This ultra-useful thread describes a method for building a download URL for Vimeo files.
“”I Like It” is an *instant* classic, IMO… it’s a tie between that and “I Wanna Be Yours” for my favorite track on the album.”

I hit a creative block the other day. I was in a bad mood and hating everything I was working on. It was finally time to pack it up, so I did - glad to be rid of a crappy day.
I was expecting today to go about the same, but suddenly I found myself motivated, in the zone, and the creative juices flowing.
What changed?
I honestly think it was taking time to stop and look at others’ designs. We say this kind of stuff all the time, but it really is so true - if you’re looking for inspiration, look no further than Google. Allow yourself time to ogle someone’s website or carefully study a photo, a photoshop brush, a tutorial of a cool technique… basically ANYTHING to get your head back in the game.
In protest of SOPA and PIPA, I will be participating in the “Internet Blackout” tomorrow, January 18, 2012, by directing all traffic to the SOPA Internet Strike page which will advise visitors to contact Congress and join the protest. You can participate too by pasting the following code into the <head> of your site:
<script type="text/javascript">var a=new Date,b=a.getHours()+a.getTimezoneOffset()/60;if(18==a.getDate()&&0==a.getMonth()&&2012==a.getFullYear()&&13<=b&&24>=b)window.location="http://sopastrike.com/strike";</script>
Wonder Bread Marketing pieces circa 1967
I find these pieces fascinating, especially for the era in which they were created, since they could be considered rather risque marketing. Wonder Bread recently celebrated its 90th anniversary in April 2011, so I guess it didn’t hurt. ;)
