Kraft Package Design

And now a look at “Design VS. Marketing”.
Why the box on the left (Kraft Dinner) FAILS:
I can’t tell the difference between them other than the ambiguous verbiage on the box - The one on the left says “Dinner”, the right says “Macaroni & Cheese” - yet they BOTH clearly depict macaroni and cheese on the outside. What the hell? Is there an entire DINNER in the “Dinner” box they just aren’t showing me? For all I know they’re the exact same crap, so why choose one over the other?
The layout and design for the box on the left is horribly unimaginative. It’s not “bad” per se, it just does not do a very good job of communicating what’s inside the box, IF INDEED there is more than mac n’ cheese. (CONSPIRACY!!)
The Kraft Dinner box shows macaroni being consumed with a fork, but the Macaroni & Cheese box depicts a spoon instead. This could lead to confusion on how best to ingest the macaroni (and/or dinner) - I suppose a fork is best if it is really more than just macaroni in the box, but again - see argument 1. If there’s no difference between the two, then have some consistency, people! (Useless fact: I personally always eat macaroni with a fork because a spoon causes me to drop it all over my pants and lose self esteem, friends, etc.)
Why the box on the left WINS:
It’s only sold in CANADA.1
It’s been around since 1937.2
It’s made by the largest confectionary, food, and beverage company in the U.S.3
Go figure, right?
