Hey. I'm Kyle.

I've been doing print and digital media for over 10 years now. I work as a Marketing Developer for a company you've never heard of in a small Texas town.

This blog is mostly a random stream of consciousness with a few bits of work I have completed.

It is not a portfolio.

I hit a creative block the other day. I was in a bad mood and hating everything I was working on. It was finally time to pack it up, so I did - glad to be rid of a crappy day.

I was expecting today to go about the same, but suddenly I found myself motivated, in the zone, and the creative juices flowing.

What changed?

I honestly think it was taking time to stop and look at others’ designs. We say this kind of stuff all the time, but it really is so true - if you’re looking for inspiration, look no further than Google. Allow yourself time to ogle someone’s website or carefully study a photo, a photoshop brush, a tutorial of a cool technique… basically ANYTHING to get your head back in the game.

My buddy Cody at work captured a candid moment and turned me into a “meme”. #WhatIsThisTomfoolery

Fluid Width YouTube Videos | CSS-Tricks

Super helpful on the latest project I’ve been working on. Doesn’t involve Youtube videos, just regular HTML5 video, but I was having trouble getting it to scale gracefully in my fluid layout.

You’re a wonderful friend and you’re a perfectly nice person, but I just can’t stand being put off when I feel like I have so much to offer and you’re the one holding me back.

You encouraged me when I wasn’t sure of myself. You supported me when I was not at the top of my game. You told me many times that I’m better than my last job, better than this job and that I can do whatever I want.

I know that now and the irony is - I feel like you just aren’t keeping up with me anymore. We used to be a team. Now it feels like I’m dragging you along with me half the time. don’t know if it’s because you’re too busy or because you don’t get what I’m doing.

I guess I just need to remind myself: I’m not mad at you. I’m not ungrateful. I just really hate the way I feel and I hope this changes. Something sure as hell has to.

If you’re going to work… work hard.

That way, you’ll have something to show for it.

The biggest waste is to do that thing you call work, but to interrupt it, compromise it, cheat it and still call it work.

In the same amount of time you can expend twice the effort and get far more in exchange.
